16/06a-V1 (West Brae)
West Brae field straddles blocks 16/06a and 16/07a and is located approximately 140 miles north-northeast of Aberdeen in the UK Central North Sea. Production comes from two saturated oil horizons, the Eocene Balder Formation and Upper Sele Formation Flugga sands. Both are turbidite deposits which were deposited in northwest to southeast trending submarine channels and consist of well sorted, fine grained sands with exceptional permeability. This well was drilled in Q4 1997 using the Transocean Explorer submersible drilling rig.
