Drilling and Advanced Rig Training (2013)
The DART® simulation suite (Drilling and Advanced Rig Training or also Dynamic Advanced Response Training) is located within the Sir Ian Wood Building of the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen and represents a joint-venture between RGU and KCA Deutag Drilling Limited. The state-of-the-art learning environment employs 3D graphics to represent a rig floor and the wide range of equipment and drilling processes currently used by the oil & gas industry.
Merlin Extended Reach Drilling Course (2013)
Operations course combined with the Talisman Sinopec Godwin well DWOP with engineering modules covering advance design aspects in Extended Reach Drilling.
Stag Geological Operations and Wellsite Geology Training (2001)
A four day Geological Society accredited operations and wellsite geology course providing an overview of the role of Operations and Wellsite Geologists in well planning and drilling surveillance phases of a well.
Master of Science in Engineering Geology (1993)
One year taught course including modules in the following;
Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering, Site Investigation, Hydro Geology, Soil Mechanics, Dam Engineering and Hydraulic Structures, Foundation, Design and Construction.
Dissertation on ‘Current Practice in the Laboratory Testing of Aggregates with Reference to the Whin Sill Dolerite of Northumberland’.
Bachelor of Science with Honours in Combined Science (1992)
Three year taught course in Geology and Geography Earth Sciences including modules in the following;
Igneous Petrology, Metamorphology, Sedimentology, Human and Physical Geography, Geographical Techniques, Theoretical and Applied Geomorphology, Palaeoenvironments, Geological Processes, Data Analysis and Processing, Resources, Statigraphic Principles, Climatic Change, Plate Tectonics and Crustal Evolution.
Dissertation on ‘The Petrography, Mineralogy and Geochemistry of the Great Whin Sill, Middleton-in-Teesdale, N.E. England’.
